Name: YP Night on the Town: History on the Rocks (Bring 'em Home)
Date: April 25, 2019
Time: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM CDT
Registration: Register Now
Event Description:
Party like it's 1919! A century ago, every train that brought soldiers home from the First World War gave Iowans a cause for celebration. Women won the right to vote, jazz was heating up, and those in the know could still find a drink even though prohibition hit Iowa in 1916. Celebrate this unique chapter of history at "History on the Rocks" with free pizza and free beer (while it lasts), a cash bar, and the NOLA Jazz Band!

Come join YPC and the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs on Thursday, April 25 from 5 to 7 at the Iowa State Historical Museum for a night of food, drink, music, networking, and history. History on the Rocks is a series for the grown-up crowd at the State Historical Museum of Iowa that pairs a night of history-themed programs and activities with complimentary food and drink. The theme for April's History on the Rocks is Bring 'em Home. There will be stations set up where attendees will get to learn about life during and after the war from an 88th Division infantry officer interpreter, get an exclusive look at war artifacts, learn some dance moves and listen to the NOLA Jazz Band. Enjoy pizza from Truman's KC Pizza Tavern, beer from Abita Brewery out of New Orleans courtesy of Doll Distributing (while supplies last) and soda. A cash bar for mixed drinks will also be available. Event is normally $10, but YPC members will receive free entry with prior registration above.
