Welcome to the Diversity & Culture Committee monthly meeting! Any YPC member or potential member is welcome to attend.
FEBRUARY GUEST SPEAKER:
In observance of Black History Month, Patricia Silva Weitzel will be sitting in on the meeting and doing a question-and-answer session around her life, her work, and how diversity and inclusion plays a role.
Patricia is a fellow YP and accomplished bassist for the Des Moines Symphony. Originally from Brazil, she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Iowa in Double Bass Performance and Pedagogy and is teaching students at the University as well. Come ready to learn and feel free to ask questions!

About our Meetings:
At the monthly meetings, we have fun, get to know each other, and plan a variety of YPC-related initiatives from big to small around the arts, culture, diversity and inclusion. There will sometimes be guest speakers on these topics as well.
This is a low-pressure committee where we aim to have fun, make new friends, and bring YPC members more awareness of and engagement with metro-area resources of all kinds. If something you're interested in isn't represented in town, let's build it together!
Before and after the meeting is also a good place to bring up to the committee Chair any issues with YPC under the Diversity and Culture purview.
