Event Description:
Based on member feedback we have adjusted the format of Diversity & Culture committee meetings to be a safe space for young professionals to discuss varying aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion as they pertain to the Des Moines community and around the globe. Each meeting will have a general prompt and the Diversity & Culture chair will lead a discussion around issues young professionals face within the workforce and the local community. This meeting allows us each the opportunity to hear different perspectives in addition to learning best practices from other young professionals in our community we can take back to our respective work environments. All thoughts and opinions are valid and the goal of this meeting is to help young professionals more effectively navigate their careers while also advocating for equity and inclusion in the Greater Des Moines workforce.
This month we will be discussing:
Microaggressions: What is a microaggression? What impact do microaggressions have on employee moral, productivity, and creating an inclusive work environment?
