Join Young Professionals Connection for our monthly Lunch 'n Learn series. January's topic will be entrepreneurship, featuring Gabriel Glynn.

Gabriel Glynn is the Co-Founder and CEO of  MākuSafe™ (Make-You-Safe) and a serial entrepreneur. Gabriel’s startup journey began over a decade ago and in that time he has experienced several successful exits, his most recent being the selling of his software company, Slash/Web Studios, in 2015. Gabriel co-founded MākuSafe™ in 2016. The company has developed a wearable device and software platform that monitors human motion and environmental data in order to identify risk to factory workers. They use machine learning to process millions of data points to predict when/where accidents are likely to happen. Gabriel was named 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year at the Iowa Small Business Awards, in 2016 he was awarded Alumni of the Year by Des Moines Area Community College, and was awarded the inaugural Uncommon Life Seal in 2018. He has served on many community and nonprofit boards including the Ankeny Young Professionals and was a Charter Member of the Greater Des Moines Rotary Club.

"The journey is the reward" -Steve Jobs
Starting a business has its drawbacks: long hours, distraction from friends and family, financial burden, and high probability of failure. But being an entrepreneur also offers some incredibly unique opportunities to learn, grow, meet people, and experience life in a totally different way. Gabriel will share his journey that began selling rocks to his neighbors out of his red wagon, at 8 years old. Since then he's flown on corporate jets, met some of the most influential business leaders of the modern era, and raised millions of dollars in venture capital; all to chase a dream of saving the lives of labor workers worldwide. You might laugh. You might cry. You may be inspired. But you'll certainly enjoy his passion for Iowa and the entrepreneurial spirit.
