YPC and Meredith Corporation invite young professionals to a Lunch 'n Learn on Effective Communication followed by a tour of Meredith Corporation (facilities including the Meredith Test Kitchen, photo studio, Better Homes & Garden test garden) that are not open to the public. Kara Kelly, Manager of Corporate Communications, will discuss the importance of communication with employees and the community during Meredith's transformative acquisition of Time, Inc. YPC members will learn how Meredith's Corporate Communications team developed and implemented a plan to inform thousands of new and legacy employees about the major changes occurring over a few short months. Following the Lunch 'n Learn, YPC members will also have the opportunity to exclusively tour the Better Homes & Garden test garden at Meredith.
Kara Kelly is the Corporate Communications Manager at Meredith Corporation, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa. Kelly leads all employee communications activities including email messaging, managing the corporate intranet, and planning and executing more than 20 all-employee meetings at Meredith locations across the country. Kelly also manages external relations for the Meredith Local Media Group, which includes 17 television stations in 12 markets, and oversees all corporate social media activity on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Kelly has 20 years of communications experience: she started her career as a local television news producer and worked her way up to the executive producer and news director. Before joining Meredith, Kelly worked as Regional Communications Officer and spokesperson for the American Red Cross Iowa Region where she served 96 counties in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. She has deployed to disasters across the United States and Canada as a spokesperson for the organization. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Iowa and currently resides in Carlisle with her partner, Jason, and their 1.5-year-old daughter, Mary Grace, and their two dogs, Kate Middleton and Zadie.
