Young Professionals Connection is honored to host Dan Houston, Chairman, President and CEO of Principal and Board Chair of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, for our inaugural monthly Lunch 'n Learn series. Mr. Houston is an Iowa State University Ivy College of Business alumnus and is a member of the Dean's Advisory Council. 

He also served as the Chair for the search committee to appoint ISU's new President. Mr. Houston will share his experiences on leadership throughout Greater Des Moines (DSM) and leading a Fortune 210 global organization headquartered in DSM. Mr. Houston's presentation will focus on effective leadership and proving your value in the workplace. 


The Lunch 'n Learn will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch sponsored by Mama Mia's and networking. Mr. Houston will speak beginning at noon, leaving ample time for Q&A.

Check-In - Information for Lunch & Learn Friday

  • Please arrive between 11:15 and 11:30 to pick up a visitor badge at the front desk (on the first floor) of the 711 High Street building. Someone will then escort you from the lobby of 711 high street to where we will be meeting.
  • The entrance is located on high street, between 7th and 8th street. Attached is a picture of what the entrance looks like.

 Parking

  • There are metered spots located near the building (coin only) ? first come, first serve.
  • There are also handicap meter parking spots located right near the building as well.
  • There are also ramps that charge hourly. The closest ramps are:
    • 9th & Locust Parking Garage, 801 Locust St.  Charges Monday through Saturday $1.00/hr. (4 minute walk)
    • 7th & Locust Parking Garage, 700 Locust St Garage (google maps ? Partnership Parking), Charges Monday Through Saturday $2.00/hr. (4 minute walk)
    • 8th & Mulberry Parking Garage, 750 Mulberry St., Charges Monday through Saturday $1.00/hr. (6 minute walk)
    • Center Street Park & Ride Parking Garage, 830 - 6th Ave, 1st & 2nd Hours -- $1.00/Hour. Additional Hours $.50/Hour  (7 minute walk)
