Event Description:
Iowa International Center (IIC), Young Professionals Connection (YPC), and the DSM Global Shapers are excited to host the Passport to Prosperity Scavenger Hunt presented by Veridian Credit Union. This free walking scavenger hunt will be outdoors and highlight some of the diverse locations, stores, and organizations in the downtown Des Moines and East Village area. Join IIC, YPC, and DSM Global Shapers as we showcase some of the great diversity of our city! Participate alone or in a team of up to 4 people.
This event is part of IIC's 2021 Passport to Prosperity Week. Passport to Prosperity Week recognizes outstanding refugees and immigrants that have made Iowa a better place to live. They serve as inspiration in their passion and success amidst challenging circumstances. This week of activities celebrates our global community in Iowa and features the culture, accomplishments, and personal stories of our honorees. The week includes in effort to provide a safe and inclusive experience there will be a mix of virtual and in-person events, for everyone. The week consists of: a free webinar, a meet & greet, a free scavenger hunt, an international snack box to-go, and a virtual award ceremony. Join us in celebration of our honorees and the global community we have in Iowa!
About Iowa International Center
Founded in 1938, the Iowa International Center began by welcoming and providing safety for refugees fleeing Germany and Poland. For over 75 years, we have provided personal and professional opportunities linking Iowans with peoples from around the world. The Iowa International Center also provides access to critical resources to Iowans, new Iowans (including refugees and immigrants), and international visitors in Iowa to help our state become a more inclusive and welcoming place to live, work and raise a family.
About Global Shapers Des Moines
Global Shapers is an initiative of the World Economic Forum. The Global Shapers Community is a network of young people driving dialogue, action and change. The Des Moines Hub brings together young leaders from across the metro to work through some of the region's most pressing issues, including the urban-rural divide, social justice, and climate change. We partner with community partners to make a local impact on these global issues and connect our little piece of flyover country to cities across the world.
