Volunteer Event: Native Garden Spring Cleanup
This event is arranged through Polk County Conservation, and is a great opportunity to honor Earth Day 2022! By Registering through our YPC link, we will register you through PCC.
Spring has sprung. Rain gardens and native plantings provide many benefits for biodiversity, wildlife, water quality, and positively impacting our community. Timely spring garden cleanup sets up these areas for success during the growing season.
This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for experience in how to better care for their own rain gardens and native plantings at home.
During this event, volunteers will receive a mini lesson on spring cleanup specifically for rain gardens and native plantings. After the mini lesson, volunteers will help cleanup pollinator gardens and help create a mulched border for the garden.
Lunch provided by PCC for all registered participants.
No experience necessary. Age 18+ permitted to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Each event participant will be provided proper personal protective equipment and training, as needed.
It is recommended to dress for the weather, wear long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Bring a re-fillable water bottle and garden gloves if you have them.
