Event Description:

 
Join YPC for a new perspective on the Farmer’s Market! We will be volunteering with DMARC’s program Meals From The Market.  The Meals From The Market program, which began in 2009, aims to provide fresh, local produce to food pantries in the Greater Des Moines region. Volunteers with Meals From The Market canvass The Market, asking vendors if they would like to donate any unsold produce to the program. At the end of The Market, volunteers then collect and load donated produce into a truck, and it is distributed throughout the DMARC Food Pantry Network.

This event is capped at 10 volunteers, so register now! 

Location: Meet at the bright yellow “Meals from the Market” booth at the corner of 3rd St and Court Street at 10:30 AM 

Event Structure:

  • 10:30 AM: Overview of Meals from the Market by DMARC Volunteer & Outreach Manager Amanda Parkins + Brief Training
  • 11:00 AM-1:00 PM: Volunteer  
  • 1:00 PM-2:00 PM: Optional Lunch at Tupelo Honey
