Have you ever been on 6th avenue in downtown Des Moines and noticed a giant gold sphere? That is ?Sphere Within a Sphere? by Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, which also has a twin that can be seen at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. This is just one part of the extensive art collection held by American Enterprise Group. Come join YPC on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 5:30 pm for a private art tour of this collection. Lead in-house docent Colleen Lange will take us through the collection that includes works by notable artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Claes Oldenberg.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance will be capped at 15 people. Registration is required. To register, please click the red "Register Here" button. Attendees are expected to wear a mask during the tour and will be required to show photo ID. If this event does not fit your schedule, we will be holding a second tour on November 30. American Enterprise Group and then-President Watson Powell Jr. first started hanging contemporary art on its walls in the 1960s to inspire an innovative work environment and liven up the building?s simple, modern design by the great American architect Gordon Bunshaft. Employees of the company volunteer as in-house docents and help folks learn more about the collection.
